“Tumbling Waters”
A sketch now in the Louvre made about 1820 by Louis Philippe later king of France.

1932, State Education Department

What was there

A 156 ft cascading waterfall over Fall Creek. Several Mills operated along the smaller creek just north of this one.

What is there now

The same waterfall, but also a small park and a bed & breakfast.

More information

A search of the modern Louvre inventory did not show the mentioned sketch as part of their collection.

The settlement of Catharine’s Landing was incorporated as the Village of Havana on May 13, 1836.  The name was changed to Montour Falls in 1893.
