What was there

Site of French and Indian War battle along the Niagara River portage trail.

What is there now

Located very close, within yards, is a small stone monument dedicated to Father Claude Joseph Virot Chaplain of the French forces was killed by the Iroquois July 24, 1759. Placed and dedicated by the Buffalo chapter of the Daughters of American Colonialists, October 25, 1941. The battlefield location itself is now a residence and private property.
