This battery was an important factor in defense of the Niagara Frontier in War of 1812 so named because salt bags were used in its construction

What is there now

A small town Park, in the residential area of Youngstown New York.   Other than these historical signs, nothing left of that era now exists on that site.  Second brief historical sign established by Niagara County, within the boundaries of the park.

  • Simple site designation dealing with the war of 1812. Set in the Hamlet of Youngstown New York, with an extremely short distance from old Fort Niagara.
