Hartland cobblestone house, one of several homes with the same title in Niagara County and in the town of Hartland.

  • The use of cobblestone construction for housing and buildings was quite prominent along the shores and routes of Lake Ontario. The heyday for such construction was between 1825 and 1860. Approximately 1200 buildings of cobblestone construction were built in North America about 90% of those built within 75 miles of Rochester New York.
