This vault was in the “Bank of Lima” at the time of the first bank robbery in Livingston County. February 6, 1915.

The vault used at the time of the robbery is now welded on a post just below the historic marker. The site of the former bank is now parking lots for nearby businesses.

  • The First Bank of Lima recovered from the robbery and had 7 locations by the 1970s. The crime remains unsolved. The robber got away with $9,960.78.
  • What cost $9,960.78 in 1915 would cost $212,013.00 in 2010.
